REPRESENTATIVE CASES AS ARBITRATOR
 
  • Served as party-appointed arbitrator in an arbitration hosted by the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, pursuant to the Beligum & Luxembourg - Russian Federation Investment Protection Treaty. The reasoning of my dissenting opinion has been preferred by most commentarists, over that of the Majority, and has been cited positively by subsequent tribunals.
 
 
REPRESENTATIVE CASES: AMICUS CURIAE
 
  • Served as advisor to counsel to the Quechan Nation in Glamis Gold v. USA, an NAFTA arbitration conducted under the ICSID(AF) Rules.
  • Provided a pro bono expert opinion to Physicians for a Smoke Free Canada, concerning an ICSID arbitration launched by Philip Morris International against the Republic of Honduras, under the Switzerland-Uruguay Investment Protection Treaty. Participated in meetings with Uruguayan Cabinet Ministers, and provided testimony before the Health Committee of the General Assembly of Uruguay, in September 2010, assisting in the prevention of government capitulation on the file.
